DAVID BUXBAUM NAMED TO LOCAL AIRPORT AND HOSPITAL BOARDS CALABASAS, Calif. (1/7/04) - David Buxbaum, chairman emeritus of Buxbaum Group, has been appointed a commissioner of the Palm Springs International Airport and was also named to the Regional Board for Research and Education of the Jerry Pettis Loma Linda Veterans Administration Hospital in Redlands, Calif. He was additionally named treasurer of that board. In his role with the Palm Springs Airport, Mr. Buxbaum will represent his home town of Rancho Mirage on the commission. Mr. Buxbaum, founder of the Calabasas-based firm bearing his family name, has been involved in retailing, inventory liquidations and consulting for more than 50 years. He held key executive positions with regional and national chains in the apparel, footwear, drug and health food segments before moving into the liquidation business in 1974 as the founder of forerunner company Buxbaum & Associates. Over the course of his career, Mr. Buxbaum has been credited with many industry innovations, such as inventory augmentation and providing appraisal services to the asset-based lending community.
